The NAIOP Georgia School Challenge is our CE highlight of the year — it’s where we expose students to real-world deals and information in commercial real estate.

This year will be the 32nd annual event and we’re shaking things up a bit!

With registration, you will receive 3 hours of continuing education credits while also hearing market feedback from our esteemed judges and keynote speaker, for a fully immersive afternoon of CRE! The event wraps with a celebratory happy hour so our members can meet the up-and-coming talent in our industry.

Keynote speaker

Alex Oliver

Managing Director at Icarus Alternative Investments

Alex founded Icarus in 2016 after crafting a thesis around a low- to no-fee way for investors to get access to opportunistic real estate. Before that, he spent time at Hines Interests Limited Partnership in Chicago working on office development and more than $1 billion in acquisition work.

Alex has a BA in economics from the University of Georgia and began his career at Accenture before receiving an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

Katherine Lynch

An 18-year veteran of the commercial real estate industry, Katherine Lynch is a principal with Trammell Crow Company’s Atlanta office where she’s responsible for sourcing, shaping, and executing TCC’s office and life sciences development and investment in Atlanta and the Southeast.

In 2009, she received the William H. McAdam Memorial Award for being the nation’s highest producing first-year salesperson throughout CBRE Atlanta, where she was first vice president.

Steven D. Martin

Steve Martin is the founder and managing principal of SDM Partners, LLC, an Atlanta-based, private commercial real estate investor. Prior to founding SDM Partners, Steve led Granite Properties’ Atlanta office.

He holds a BA in economics from Jacksonville State University and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. He served as NAIOP Georgia’s chapter president in 1999 and was the National Chairman of NAIOP in 2015.

Christopher Merriewether

Christopher Merriewether is an investment & leasing officer and the Atlanta Market Leader at EQT Exeter where he’s responsible for the investment and development sourcing, leasing, and asset management of logistics real estate in the Atlanta Market.

He holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in Real Estate and Management and a BS in finance from Kansas State University.
